The actors are so totally blended with their characters that is impossible to tell that they are acting: this is great for full immersion into a movie where the rest of the world disappears. The acting is impeccable as usual (to be honest, I still have to find "bad" acting in Chinese TV series). The costumes are impeccable in every single detail and so is the music. Reconstructing a scenery to resemble Shanghai in the early 1900's, must have been really challenging because they did an outstanding job: you get the feeling of being there as if you could almost smell its perfumes. Right after the opening theme, there isĪ brilliantly developed introduction which uses animation, pictures, music, words and a narrator to introduce you to the topic that is about to come: this changes at every single episode.

Rewatch Value 10 I was not expecting this TV series to be such an impressive masterpiece. In first half it seems it could be one of my favourite chinese dramas. In conclusion, I was really disappointed in this drama. Main negative character was quite amazing too (I really hate her). Honestly, he was only reason why I completed this drama.
On the other hand, acting is not so bad and you will love You Tou. She seems like innocent angel and knows nothing. What´s more, female lead is incapable and irritating. For example, 2x almost death of main villain but she is still alive. However, these surprising situations are a fall of this drama. moment of surprise? So there is a lot of surprising things to keep a watcher in tension. In the storyline they are few actions and scenes which really don´t make sense for me and story is based on. However, a second half is so big disappointment. It´s exciting, thrilling, you are curious what happens next.
